zSpace Releases New Updates!

In a previous blog, we introduced you to the engaging 3D educational experience available with zSpace. Well educators, the zSpace system just got even better with recent hardware and software updates. Just before the start of the 2015-2016 school year, zSpace expanded their engaging learning platform with new application releases and an entire new user interface for each of the zSpace applications.

With the release of new hardware, the zSpace for Education is now an all-in-one desktop unit with the immersive 3D capability. Users no longer need to worry about purchasing a separate computer tower to power the system.  This can help decrease cost, and also alleviate that ever-valuable issue of space in your classroom. However, the power behind the system itself comes from the various instructional applications created for interaction with zSpace.

One of the most exciting things about the zSpace updates is the release of zSpace Studio.  With the newest application, users are able to manipulate one or more 3D models in a variety of subject areas.  zSpace has added a long list of pre-populated models, but schools also have the option to input 3D virtual models that may have been created by teachers or students using outside programs.  The possibilities for STEM application have skyrocketed with the creation of zSpace Studio.

Bring in a model and use the built-in Studio measurement tools to compare models, build inferences, and make real-world connections.

Along with Studio, zSpace also updated the user interface for all of their applications, allowing for a more streamlined and easy-to-navigate platform.  For instance, with the use of each application’s “backpack,” students can gather the necessary items to create an interactive 3D workspace. With an example that comes to mind, students can use physics principles in Newton’s Park to create a functional roller coaster using the ramps and platforms available in the application’s backpack. Then, they can test out their roller coaster with balls of various masses to draw conclusions about its functionality. Science can be so much fun!  zSpace also has a vast collection of other pre-created activities for each application available on their website.
