Using ClassFlow to Increase Student Engagement

There is no doubt that access to student devices in the classroom is a trend increasing in popularity. As teachers provide students with iPads, Chromebooks, laptops, and other personal devices, they want to be sure to have a selection of programs to increase functionality and engagement. This will help make deployment successful. Well teachers, I would be sure to add ClassFlow to that list of resources! ClassFlow allows teachers to import or create lessons that can be delivered to students while presenting content to the whole class. In addition, teachers can create ClassFlow question sets and push them out to student devices within the context of a lesson or as individual digital assessments.
After creating a class and inputting student names, a class code can be used to view and interact with lesson content on a student device. Lessons can be created directly within ClassFlow, or one of the great capabilities of the system, is the ability to import lessons and files that are already created in programs like ActivInspire or SMART Notebook. With the use of teacher and student lesson cards, teachers have control over the instructional material a student can see on his or her device, while also displaying material to the whole class. The content viewed may be the same, or it may include additional links and resources that students can use to answer questions and increase class discussion. It is also easy to differentiate content in ClassFlow by sending selected materials to individual students or groups that have been created on the platform.
While displaying a lesson, students can have the ability to annotate on content pages and return them to the teacher for review. This is one of many assessment options that is available within the platform. Providing annotated material can help increase classroom discussion and provide the teacher with insight about how well students understand demonstrated material. Along with annotation questions, teachers can also create instant polls within the context of a lesson, or pre-create question sets for students to answer during a lesson. These can be sent to student devices to respond individually, providing the teacher with results on the platform to help guide future instruction.

Along with formative and informal assessment, ClassFlow also provides the ability to create complete summative assessments with various question types. There are built in tagging features, and additional settings to help teachers reach their digital assessment goals. Students can log in to ClassFlow to take these assessments, and submit their responses within the platform. ClassFlow also makes it easy for teachers to review student work and download grade reports to share results.
ClassFlow is a comprehensive learning platform, helping teachers display, distribute, and organize class materials and assessments. If you have ever looked out into a class and witnessed students gazing around the room or losing focus on what is being discussed, ClassFlow could help eliminate that concern. Allowing students to become an active part of a lesson being presented helps hold their interest and increase engagement in classroom topics. Take a chance to look around the free platform at www.classflow.com, or join us for a Teq Online PD course which demonstrates the benefits of ClassFlow.
