What is CTLE-Approved PD?
In March of 2016, the New York State Board of Regents adopted a new State Law focused on the quality of Professional Development educators receive.
According to the law, during each five-year registration period of a permanent or professional teaching certification, an educator has to complete 100 hours of CTLE-approved professional development in order to practice in a New York State public school district or BOCES. The same law applies to holders of permanent or professional leader certificates (for example, school building, district, or business leaders), as well as holders of Level III Teaching Assistant certifications.
For that reason, professional development providers in NYS should be CTLE approved so educators can receive credit for their professional development.
Getting Approved
To become CTLE approved, Teq’s Professional Development Program and Course Offerings had to be approved by the New York State Education Department (NYSED).
To do this, Teq’s PD team presented lesson plans, course outlines, and professional development videos to the NYSED. .
In October 2016, Teq’s Onsite and Online Professional Development officially became CTLE approved, and any educator who participated in a Teq PD session from July 2016 on received CTLE credit for that time.
