Google Workspace is always adding new features that make working with your students a bit easier and more streamlined. From taking attendance automatically in Google Meet, to creating more interactive assignments in Google Classroom, here are some recent additions that will help facilitate your classroom experience. Let’s take a look at the top three features that are rolling out soon

1. Schedule Posts for Multiple Classrooms 

Soon, you will be able to schedule posts for multiple classrooms in Google Classroom, cutting down the time it takes to publish homework or announcements. Previously, scheduling was not available for posting across different classes. To use this new feature, create your announcement or assignment, then choose the classes you want to post it to. Finally, select the dropdown arrow on the “Post” button and schedule the post for multiple classes. You can choose different post dates for each class from the subsequent window. 

2. Automatic Attendance in Google Meet

For Google Workspace Education Plus and Teaching and Learning Upgrade users, there has been an update to the automatic attendance list for Google Meet that has been out for a little while. Now, when you are conducting a virtual meeting in small groups of two or more participants, an automatic attendance will be taken for all participants in the meeting. This will include the participants’ names, email addresses, and time that they were in the meeting. This will make it easier to keep track of any check-in meetings you are having with your students and colleagues, as well as simplify any follow up communications.

3. Create more interactive assignments with practice sets 

Google will be rolling out a new Google Classroom feature called Practice Sets in the next few weeks. This feature will be tested first with beta users and then could be rolled out to all Google Classroom users soon after. The Practice Sets will enable educators to take new or existing questions and change them into interactive question sets for students to learn and practice in a fun and engaging way. Just like multiple choice questions in Google Forms, these questions will have autograding built-in and will provide insights for educators to their students’ strengths and weaknesses. If a student is stumped, automated hints will help guide the students in the right direction.
